Violette Gérard new ParisTech Director in Asia!

Violette Gérard now represents ParisTech in Asia following the departure of Marie de Boni for personal reasons. Her mission will be to manage existing programs with China, develop ParisTech's partnerships in Asia and support ParisTech schools in their bilateral relations with Asian partners.

Violette Gérard says: "I am driven by the mission to manage ParisTech's programs with our partners in China, to strengthen our links with universities and the China Scholarship Council, and to expand our network in Asia. I'm very excited about ParisTech's commitment to Asia and the recent opening of the ParisTech International Admission Program to applicants from all over Asia. I'm convinced that by strengthening partnerships with French and international companies present in Asia, we will be able to respond effectively to the specific training needs in Asia. I look forward to contributing to ParisTech's expansion in Asia and promoting our excellence in higher education on the continent."

Her main missions will be to:

  • Manage ParisTech's programs with Chinese partners such as universities and the China Scholarship Council;
  • Consolidate existing university partnerships in Asia and develop new ones in the region;
  • Consolidate ParisTech's network and raise its profile within local networks (alumni networks in Asia, companies, etc.);
  • Strengthen partnerships with French companies operating in Asia, as well as with international companies, to meet Asia's specific training needs.

A Franco-Chinese profile

Violette Gérard, who has a passion for China, first took a double degree in Law and Applied Foreign Languages in English, Spanish and Chinese at the University of Nantes, which then led her to Beijing, where she obtained a Master's degree in Franco-Chinese International Management awarded jointly by the University of Nantes and Beijing University of Technology. She then entered the professional world, deploying her skills at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry as an international development officer in Shanghai, then in Paris. She then took advantage of her time in Paris to complete an MBA in "Consulting and Digital Organization" at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL as an apprentice at Orange, before joining Mazars as a management consultant and trainer.

ParisTech schools have been present in China for over 20 years through academic, institutional and corporate partnerships, an annual admission campaign for students in engineering, three Franco-Chinese Institutes in Wuhan, Shanghai and Beijing, and a program for PhD candidates. The year 2021 marked a new milestone as ParisTech opened its international admission program (ParisTech International Admission Program) to applicants from all over Asia. This will enable the network's schools to diversify the profile of international students admitted in the engineering training program, promote French engineering excellence to a new audience and offer new mobility opportunities to their students.
