European Engineering Learning Innovation Science Alliance
EELISA (European Engineering Learning Innovation Science Alliance) is one of the 41 European universities that have been awarded three years of funding from the European Commission as part of the Erasmus+ programme. The alliance sees three of the ParisTech schools unite with several members of the ATHENS network and other European partners to develop a European engineering qualification.
EELISA, or the European Engineering Learning Innovation Science Alliance, is one of the 41 European universities financed by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme. Three ParisTech schools are part of the alliance – the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, and Chimie ParisTech - PSL and Mines Paris - PSL within the University PSL.
The other members are the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), the project coordinator, Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetem (Hungary), Universitatea Politehnica din București (Romania), İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (Turkey), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany), Sant’Anna, Scuola Normale Superiore Pisa (Italy) – and the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) which is an associate member. The Zürcher Hochschule for Angewandte Wissenschaften (Switzerland) has joined the consortium in 2022.
EELISA’s aim is to develop a European engineering qualification that will equip students to work anywhere in Europe, irrespective of national regulations, thanks to a simplified accreditation procedure. The members of the consortium will pool the best elements of their engineering courses to combine their strengths, give the programme an international dimension, facilitate work placements, establish links between academic study and scientific research, and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies.
EELISA also champions inclusion, and its members are keen to promote social diversity, gender equality, and the inclusion of refugees and students with disabilities. In particular, EELISA hopes to encourage more young women to pursue studies in engineering, and to develop apprenticeship schemes.
Conscious of the rapidly evolving world in which we live, the partner establishments will be working to create activities that will help students to tackle the major challenges facing society today and fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals. Within “EELISA communities” consisting of students, staff and corporate members, students will work on EELISA-wide projects on topics such as sustainable cities, the industry of the future, clean energies, mobility and so on.
Students, lecturers, researchers, administrative staff, partner companies – the entire ecosystem of each partner institution is fully committed to making EELISA a success.
EELISA has won several European calls for tender:
