The November week of ATHENS 2024 sets a participation record for ParisTech

On November 16th, nearly 400 European students gathered in Paris to take part in the ATHENS week, a flagship event of the ParisTech network. This edition, the largest ever recorded, gave students the opportunity to explore the partner schools of the program: AgroParisTech, Arts et Métiers, Chimie ParisTech - PSL, Mines Paris, Télécom Paris, and Les Ponts et Chaussées.

An immersive week between classes and cultural discoveries

Since 1997, ATHENS week has offered students a unique experience, blending academic teaching with cultural immersion. The European Dimension Activities (EDA), essential components of the program, allowed participants to discover Paris from a different perspective. Guided tours of iconic neighborhoods such as Montmartre, the Latin Quarter, and the Marais provided students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the history, art, and culture of the city, while strengthening their bonds with one another.

A tailored welcome for international students

Welcoming international students remains a priority for ParisTech. On Saturday, students attended a presentation about the ATHENS program, its objectives, and the opportunities provided by the ParisTech network. In the same spirit of supporting their social integration, students also participated in a presentation by the Mines School BDE, which organized social and cultural integration events throughout the week. These sessions were followed by social moments, such as a welcome snack, allowing participants to meet in an informal setting and begin forming connections.

A European mobility dynamic

Alongside the welcome in Paris, ATHENS week 2024 also boosted European mobility, with over 937 students from ParisTech institutions sent to partner institutions across Europe, including in Madrid, Vienna, Lisbon, Brussels, Prague, and more. These international exchanges help students develop intercultural skills while enhancing cooperation between the member schools of the ATHENS network.

A record-breaking edition and renewed success

ATHENS week 2024 was a resounding success, both in terms of participant numbers and the diversity of activities offered. This edition once again demonstrated ParisTech’s commitment to promoting the internationalization of higher education and providing students with a unique experience of exchange and discovery, while strengthening the ties between European institutions.

This final ATHENS week of 2024 reached new heights, solidifying ParisTech as a key player in student mobility across Europe.
