Between 28th-31st October the École d'ingénieurs ParisTech Shanghai Jiao Tong organised a workshop on "Training engineers for the year 2020".
Cédric Denis-Remis, the École’s French Director, presided over the forum’s opening ceremony. Also in attendance were Jean-Philippe Vanot, the President of ParisTech, and Huang Zhen, the Vice-president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Over 60 specialists and industry representatives took part in the ceremony.
Experts from ParisTech joined twenty or so partner businesses to construct the seminars organised during this workshop. Four major themes were considered by participants:
There was a debate between professors and specialists on "the skills and qualities required to beome a good engineer". In the course of the discussion representatives from partner businesses had the chance to express their points of view.
During this workshop a meeting was held to decide on the programme for engineering studies at the École d'ingénieurs. Participants at the event also had the chance to visit ParisTech Shanghai Jiao Tong’s different laboratories.
ParisTech Shanghai Jiao Tong is an engineering Grande École which is the fruit of the strategic alliance between ParisTech and Shanghai JiaoTong University.
The École is a centre of excellence for engineering training and is modelled on the French engineering Grandes Écoles. The four founding schools (École Polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, MINES ParisTech and Telecom ParisTech) guarantee that its high quality training is demanding and rigorous.
