A special issue of the magazine Le Monde des Grandes Écoles et Universités published on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 is dedicated to the ParisTech network, which brings together seven prestigious French graduate engineering schools. This special issue highlights the strengths and challenges of the network, which aims to promote excellence, complementarity, innovation as well as social and international openness in French engineering training programs.
The special issue looks back at the history and values of ParisTech, a network created 30 years ago with the ambition of being "the alliance of France's leading engineering schools". It highlights the diversity of disciplines, backgrounds, training, research and innovation in science and technology that characterize ParisTech's member schools.
It also examines the place and role of ParisTech in the French and global higher education landscape by analyzing, in particular, the relationship between ParisTech and university groups, such as the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres or the Université Paris-Saclay, and the resulting issues of visibility and attractiveness. It also examines the influence of ParisTech on the reputation and modernization of French engineering education, facing the challenges of the country's reindustrialization, the brain drain to foreign countries and the ecological transition.
