ParisTech schools awarded BRAFITEC and BRAFAGRI

After the pandemic, the BRAFITEC and BRAFAGRI programs have taken a new start with calls for projects published last June. ParisTech schools are the lucky awardees with several projects. These are all opportunities to accompany their students to Brazil and welcome Brazilian students coming to France over the next two years.

For more than 15 years, ParisTech has developed a network of privileged partners in Brazil. Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are the first areas of cooperation with the University of Sao Paulo (USP), the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the State University of Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), the Federal University of Sao Carlos (UFSCar) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Pontifical University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC Rio) and the Military Institute of Engineering (IME). But ParisTech has also invested in partnerships with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre and the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in São José dos Campos.

Based on these agreements, six ParisTech schools - AgroParisTech, Arts et Métiers, Chimie ParisTech - PSL, ESPCI Paris - PSL, Institut d'Optique, Mines Paris - PSL - admit each year students. The ParisTech International Admission Program allows the schools to select several dozen Brazilian students each year.

The economic situation being what it is, some of them sometimes give up for financial reasons. Obtaining BRAFITEC and BRAFAGRI (for AgroParisTech) funding for the next two years is therefore excellent news for Brazilian students admitted in the framework of the ParisTech program and beyond in the framework of bilateral relations between the schools and their Brazilian partners, who will thus be able to claim a scholarship from their university if it is a partner in one of the projects. Conversely, the schools involved in these projects will be able to offer some of their students a scholarship for academic mobility in Brazil. Academic staff will also travel in both directions.

Arts et Métiers, Chimie ParisTech - PSL, ESPCI Paris - PSL, Institut d'Optique and Mines Paris - PSL are participating together in two projects: one with UFRJ and UNICAMP and the other with UFMG, UFSCar and PUC-Rio. Both projects are coordinated on the French side by ESPCI Paris - PSL.

Arts et Métiers is also involved in three projects with other French engineering schools: the first with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), URFJ Macaé and IME, the second with UFRJ, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and UFMG in partnership and finally a third one with the Federal University of Espirito Santo (UFES), the Polytechnic School of USP, the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).

AgroParisTech is the coordinating or participating awardee of five BRAFAGRI projects in partnership with other French agriculture schools with the following Brazilian partners: USP-ESALQ, USP - FZEA, UNESP, UNICAMP, which are partners of the ParisTech network, as well as the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro - Uberaba MG (UFTM), the Federal University of Viçosa - Viçosa MG (UFV), the State University of Feira Santana BA (UEFS), the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD), the Federal University of Paraná (UFRP).
