ParisTech 2024 delegation to China - deepening ties with our Chinese partners

Promotion trip in China

From May 16 to May 21, 2024, representatives of ParisTech member schools and the ParisTech Asia coordinator visited several of our key partners in China. They were also invited to take part in the “Forum of Presidents and Directors of Chinese and French Higher Education Institutions” organized by Tongji University on May 19.

ParisTech schools were finally able to return to China. The delegation met with several historical partners in Beijing and Shanghai: Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Fudan University. The aim of the visit was to deepen cooperation between French grandes écoles and Chinese universities, and to introduce the ParisTech International Admission Programme, which begins on June 1, to our long-standing partners.

On the morning of May 16, 2024, Marie-Christine Bert, Director of International Relations and Corporate Partnerships at École des Ponts ParisTech, Liang Fenglin, Project Manager at the International Relations Department of ESPCI Paris - PSL, and YANG Minhua, Coordinator of ParisTech Asia, visited Peking University and met with Dr. LI Yun, Director of Peking University's International Cooperation Department, and Ms. LI Ke, Coordinator in the same department. The two sides exchanged views on the exchange of students and researchers between Chinese and French schools, the future direction of cooperation and the renewal of the university agreement.

In the afternoon of May 16, the delegation visited Tsinghua University's School of the Environment. Marie-Christine Bert discussed with Mr. ZHANG Xiaoyuan, Vice Dean for International Education of Tsinghua University's School of Environmental Studies, and Mr. Lu Xi, Vice Dean of the Institute of Carbon Neutral Studies, the double degree cooperation between the two schools. We also hope that more students from Tsinghua University will come to ParisTech member schools in the future as part of the double degree program or the ParisTech International Admission Programme.

On May 18, ParisTech Alumni representatives in Shanghai, Thibaut Legrand and Nicolas Cheng-Baron, organized an “Alumni Brunch” with the support of the AFCP. Over 20 alumni attended and met with Marie Christine Bert, and Cui Yujun, professor at École des Ponts ParisTech. ParisTech Alumni had invited two entrepreneurial alumni, LIAN He and Chen Geng He, to share their entrepreneurial experiences and discuss with alumni issues such as the impact of AI on today's work and education environment.

On May 19, the “Forum of Presidents and Directors of Chinese and French Higher Education Institutions” organized by Tongji University was successfully held at the Sino-French Center of Tongji University, where Ms. Marie-Christine Bert was invited to give a speech on how international cooperation can contribute to sustainable development in the world. Many representatives of ParisTech's partner universities spoke on the day, and the Forum enabled us to learn more about the willingness and way in which different universities cooperate. This Forum not only enables Chinese and French universities to learn from each other, but also offers the opportunity for deeper cooperation between Chinese and French education in the future.

On the morning of May 20, the ParisTech delegation visited Shanghai Jiaotong University and met with Mr. Frédéric Toumazet, Director of the Franco-Chinese Institute SPEIT, and Ms. ZHU Sinan, Program Manager. The delegation had the opportunity to discover the latest developments and trends at SPEIT, and to gain a better understanding of the implementation of the double degree program and the short-term exchange program. The delegation also took the opportunity to present the ParisTech International Admission Programme.

On the afternoon of the 20th, the ParisTech delegation visited Fudan University and met with Ms LU Li'an, Director of the International Relations Office, and Ms FAN Jiawen, Program Manager of the International Relations Office. The two sides exchanged views on long-term and in-depth cooperation between the two parties, and on prospects for further cooperation. The meeting not only enabled ParisTech to understand Fudan University's efforts to internationalize its students in recent years, but also laid the foundations for more degree and non-degree exchanges between the two parties in the future. At the same time, Ms. Marie-Christine Bert's detailed presentation of the “ParisTech International Admission Programme” also enabled our partner to take a fresh look at study abroad opportunities for its students.
