Jean-Philippe Vanot assesses ParisTech's achievements in 2014

Jean-Philippe Vanot, the President of ParisTech, summarises the significant events of 2014 and tells us how he sees the prospects for 2015.

2014 is drawing to a close and I think it would be interesting to restate ParisTech’s real iconic achievements which have benefited:

  • multidisciplinary education and research in association with the world of industry
  • the promotion of the training provided by a Grande École, both in France and abroad

Significant actions in education and research

In the fields of education and multidisciplinary research we can note:

  • the creation of a new Chair in Mines Urbaines (Urban Mines) with Ecosystems, and the renewal of the Chairs in Eau pour tous (Water for all) with Suez and Éco-conception (Eco-design) with Vinci
  • consolidation of the Institut de la mobilité durable (IMD) programme created with Renault, which is celebrating its 5th birthday this year

ParisTech’s participation in the Corridoor project, a European programme rolling out fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles

Significant actions to promote the Grandes Écoles

Numerous actions promoting Grande École training are worthy of mention, including:

  • Our schools’ sustained participation in the Athens European exchange programme which once again was highly successful, with more than 2,300 students taking part in the programme’s autumn session
  • A further chapter in our successful relationship, with the creation of the École d’ingénieurs ParisTech Shanghai Jiao Tong

Significant projects for 2015

Priorities for 2015 are taking shape:

  • promoting our schools in order to recruit the best foreign students from China and Brazil, with the creation of a branch of ParisTech in that country
  • the exemplary quality of our innovation training
  • the launch of our new multidisciplinary projects: launch of a group of businesses supporting the Masters in BioMedical Engineering (BME), creation of a group linking businesses with our engineering streams on the themes of renewable energy and green recycling, and the impetus of the Big Data innovations led by our students

The ParisTech team and I wish you a very happy Christmas and New Year.
