In 2017, ParisTech and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) signed an agreement to fund thirty Chinese doctoral students wishing to carry out their thesis in one of the laboratories of the ParisTech schools. Since then, ParisTech launches the recruitment campaign for this program mid-October each year.
ParisTech has been represented in China for more than 20 years. Its schools do not only recruit engineering students there, but also doctoral students. Supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the ParisTech – CSC PhD Program allows them indeed to recruit around thirty PhD students each year. The funding covers a stay of 36 to 48 months. In 2020, the China Scholarship Council exceptionally granted 33 scholarships to ParisTech schools, and other French engineering schools benefitting from this agreement.
September was dedicated to collecting thesis proposals from the research directors of the laboratories of the ParisTech schools. Nearly 60 proposals have already been put online this Monday, October 19. They cover fields as diverse as energy, environment, life sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, materials sciences, mechanics, optics or computer science.
Candidates must submit their application file before December 13. If eligible, they will be interviewed in January 2021. Due to the pandemic, interviews will be held remotely this year. In the meantime, applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the researchers with proposals that interest them. After the interviews, the schools will select their candidates. Successful candidates will then apply for a ParisTech – CSC scholarship. The list of recipients will be announced in May-June 2021.
ParisTech will organize a webinar in November to present the program to candidates, and answer their questions.
